F A Q s
Do we need a second photographer? Whilst I’m totally comfortable shooting solo, second photographers are absolutely a worthwhile investment. Why compromise on coverage on your special day?
Where are you based? We live about 5 minutes walk from the coast, near Scarborough, in Yorkshire, England.
Will you travel to photograph our wedding? In a word, yes! I photograph weddings all over the UK and abroad. Travel & accommodation fees do apply for overseas wedding adventures.
How long have you been a wedding photographer? I photographed my first wedding in 2010 and since then have photographed hundreds of weddings, across Yorkshire, the rest of the UK and abroad.
Will it be you that photographs our wedding? Absolutely! I use no ‘associate photographers’ and don’t sub-contract any of my work out, including the editing process. Of course, if you decide to upgrade to a second photographer, I will be bringing another amazing & carefully-selected photographer along, to provide that special extra coverage that only two photographers can achieve.
How many images do we get? Depending on which Collection you decide to go for (contact me for more info), anywhere between 500-650+. It’s likely that you may get in excess of those numbers and I can guarantee that you’ll get the very best content taken on the day.
How do we book you? If you’d like to book, then that’s really great news! It’s really good to chat first, so I usually suggest we catch up over Zoom (or an old-fashioned phone call!), so I can answer any questions that you both might have. Signature of an online wedding agreement and payment of a £950 deposit secures your date with me.
After booking, how do we discuss our wedding day plans with you? I always offer an open-door communication with my couples. I’m here for you as much, or as little, as you need me. Be that over WhatsApp, Zoom or whatever suits you both the best, I’m available! Additionally, from booking, every client of mine has access to their own micro-site, within my client management suite. From there you can access everything that you might need, from your questionnaire, to your payment schedule.
When is the remaining balance due? I usually send out remaining balance invoices about 8-10 weeks before your wedding, with payment due any time up to 6 weeks before the day. If you would like to pay any earlier, then that’s absolutely fine. Whatever works best for you both.
How long do you stay on the wedding day? I offer all day coverage, from the pre-wedding preparations, through until the first dance. Depending on which Collection suits you both best, my coverage ranges anywhere from 9-12 hours and each package includes its own unique, value-added content.
Can we upgrade our package after we have booked? Of course! Upgrades are available throughout the run up to the day. As a second shooter upgrade requires me to bring along another photographer, they are subject to availability, so I do advise booking this upgrades a few months in advance of your wedding date.
Do you take family group photos? Of course! Whilst 95% of what I’m doing throughout the day is completely natural and un-staged, I absolutely understand the importance of those family group shots. My approach to your whole day is to work in a way that I’d want my own wedding to be photographed - I definitely wouldn’t want to have to stand for hours on end, whilst a conveyor belt of people line up next to me and my wife, in endless different configurations of the same family members and friends! I’m sure that if you’re still reading this far, you feel the same way too! You’ll also be pleased to hear that I shoot them in a relaxed way; I don’t whip out a tape measure to line you all up, or insist that you all stand in exactly the same way. In my opinion, hands in pockets look just great!
Whilst it’s completely your decision as to how many group shots you would like, I would normally recommend no more than 6-8, so that they don’t interrupt the flow of your day too much, meaning you and your guests can get on with the most important part of the day - having fun! We finalise the group photos you would both like well in advance of the wedding, when you complete your online questionnaire.
What happens after the wedding? Firstly, everything gets backed up, as soon as I get through my front door that evening! Copies are made locally, in the cloud and off-site. Can’t be too careful! Depending on your Collection choice, within a week of the wedding, I then send you both a preview of images, until your full collection is ready. ‘Officially’ your full collection should be ready within 4-8 weeks of your wedding date and I try to work as close to those 4 weeks as possible, depending on the season. Once everything is ready, you’ll receive an email containing a link to access your private, online gallery where you can download your full collection of images. You can also order a whole host of printed products, directly from your live shop, which is built into your gallery. Finally, I’ll also grab your postal address and, within a few days, you’ll receive a nice package through the post containing some more wedding goodies!
Can we print our own pictures? Please do! In the age of occasionally spending too much time looking at a screen of some sort (I’m definitely occasionally guilty of that!), seeing photos in print is really, really special. You get a full license to print and share your images and I can recommend some great photo labs to use, should you want to arrange printing yourselves.
Are you fully insured? Alongside my full liability and indemnity insurance, I place huge importance on the security of your images. All of my cameras have dual memory card slots, so every image is independently backed up in camera, as soon as it’s captured. I then also do a full backup to a laptop when you guys sit down to eat, to ensure I have another two copies of what I’ve taken so far that day. Once I’m home, full dual backups are made, plus a copy backed up to the cloud and a further hard copy is stored off-site. In short, your images are absolutely safe and sound!
How long do you keep our wedding image files? I’m contractually obliged to keep them on file for 12 months but I’ve never deleted a wedding yet! The edited JPEG files are always available, so if you decide to go for an album a couple of years down the line, no problem! *
* RAW files are never, under any circumstances, made available to the client, & will be deleted after 12 months of the wedding date.
